Old vs New: Old: proved through time its great built. A great design stands the tests of time, they never go out of style. Plus, they have a great story to tell.
New: made mostly to survive 4-5 years. The disposable generation. Gone out of style, use, and probably out of service before it goes out of style. Does not stand the test of time.
About me: the photos posted not made on embroidery and painting (mixed media) are some of my work previous to the embroidery ones. Painting the human figure is my call. after years on it an embroidered blouse I have gave me the idea of embroidering the human figure on raw canvas, stretching it, preparing the canvas with transparent gesso and painting it. leaving raw canvas exposed to show the origin or base material.
i love antiques and i drew a series of furnitures with sharpie paint® on black paper and fused both techniques: embroidery, painting for the antique furniture theme. For this theme I hand stitch every detail of the furniture shown. We own most of the furniture shown. Each one with a great story on how we end up with them.
I am a puertorrican artist. With more than 20 years of painting experience. With some busiest years than others, but with the kids at school full time I just can't stop creating. I have been trying to make it on the art market for years with some great years (2009 my mixed media painting ¡Viva la vida! was accepted at the Contemporary Art Florence Biennal).
